  • NVC or Non-Violent Communication has four simple steps:  Observation, Feelings, Needs (Desires, Values), and Request.  Problems arise when needs are not fulfilled.  Acceptance and understanding of the feelings and needs of the other would help in attaining good relationship, harmony and peace.
The request helps in expressing a particular need of the person at a particular situation.  Oftentimes, it is not what we say but how we say it in our communication dynamics that make or break a relationship.  Unfortunately, most of us have been educated from birth to compete, judge, demand and diagnose and to think and communicate in terms of what is right or wrong with people.  NVC helps to improve this.

The group practiced the steps in their small groups.

Applying and practicing the steps are the real challenge of the seminar.
